New Patients Welcome

We're glad you're here. Here's everything you need to know before your first visit.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

We've designed our first visit experience to be relaxed, thorough, and efficient — because your time matters.

1. Check-In (5–10 minutes)

Arrive a few minutes early to complete your new patient paperwork. Bring your photo ID, insurance card, and a list of any current medications.

2. Medical History & Intake

A member of our team will review your health history, current symptoms, and any prior treatments you've tried. This helps Dr. V come in fully prepared.

3. Examination with Dr. V or Our NP

Your provider will perform a thorough foot and ankle exam. Depending on your condition, we may take X-rays or other imaging in-office.

4. Diagnosis & Treatment Plan

We'll explain what we found in plain language, walk through your options, and build a treatment plan together. No pressure — your input matters.

5. Next Steps

Depending on your condition, next steps might include in-office treatment that day, a prescription, a referral for imaging, or scheduling a procedure. We'll send you home knowing exactly what happens next.

What to Bring

Having these ready will make your visit smoother:

  • Photo ID — driver's license or state ID
  • Insurance card — front and back
  • Medication list — all current prescriptions, over-the-counter meds, and supplements
  • Prior records — X-rays, MRI reports, or notes from previous providers if available
  • Referral — if your insurance requires one (call us if unsure)
  • Comfortable shoes — shoes you wear regularly, so we can assess your footwear
  • List of questions — write them down so you don't forget anything

Common questions from new patients — answered.

Do I need a referral to see Dr. V?

In most cases, no. You can call and schedule directly. However, some insurance plans require a referral from your primary care provider. Check your insurance card or call us and we'll help you figure it out quickly.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes! We are currently accepting new patients at all three locations — Newport, Dandridge, and Greeneville. We welcome patients of all ages starting at age 7.

What conditions do you treat?

We treat a full range of foot and ankle conditions including heel pain, plantar fasciitis, ingrown toenails, bunions, diabetic foot complications, wound care, sports injuries, ankle sprains, nail fungus, and much more. If it's below the ankle, we can help.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can call any of our three office locations directly, or use the appointment request form on our Contact page. We'll follow up quickly to confirm your time. Same-day appointments may be available for urgent concerns.

Do you treat children?

What should I do in a foot or ankle emergency?

For severe injuries, suspected fractures, serious wound infections, or acute loss of sensation, go to your nearest emergency room. For urgent but non-emergency foot issues, call us — we prioritize same-day or next-day appointments for acute concerns whenever possible.
