Understanding Foot Deformities
A bunion is a bump at the base of the big toe that can be associated with toe angling, pain, or difficulty with shoes. Hammertoes and related deformities can develop independently or alongside bunions.
Evaluation & Care Options
Treatment depends on symptoms, examination findings, activity, and the degree of deformity. Options may include wider footwear, padding, orthotics, anti-inflammatory care, or surgery when appropriate. Minimally invasive techniques may be considered for selected patients, but not every condition is a candidate.
Results and recovery vary by procedure and patient. An evaluation is needed before discussing an individual plan.
